Role Description

The Franchise Consultant (FC) is a key member of the field leadership team responsible for leading a geographic district of H&R Block franchise retail tax offices and growing their customer base. The incumbent serves as a representative of H&R Block and is responsible for continually striving to accelerate growth, strengthen relationships with franchisees, and provide services to franchisees in accordance with company policy, vision, and mission.

• Partnership with strategic planning, sharing retail tax strategies and priorities, while ensuring operational support for the Franchisees.
• Provides service to and consults with assigned franchise district to drive growth and performance.
• Accountable for increasing client base, company revenue, and net earnings.
• Ensures issues pertaining to franchisees are managed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Creates an environment of cooperation and partnership between franchisees and company operations.
• Extensive travel is required (50-60%) and depending on the size of District, overnights may be required. The district covers Illinois, Nebraska, and Iowa.

Day to day, you’ll:

• Consult and offer expertise to franchise owners by understanding the strategic plan of H&R Block.
• Assist and influence franchisees in identifying business levers to grow their business, including long-range business plan development, pricing, real estate, and market level analysis.
• Analyze business financial metrics to recommend the best solutions to improve overall performance.
• Provide solution-based coaching and consulting to franchisees on tax office operations and growth opportunities.
• Develop a district business plan, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, specific goals, commitments, and timing.
• Influence the behaviors of franchisees by serving as a resource and promoting the adoption of company programs and products.
• Establish effective relationships with all internal support partners to ensure cohesive and effective execution occurs in all OKRs, areas, and tools.
• Make balanced decisions considering clients, shareholders, franchisees, and associates.
• Monitor, understand, and leverage the elements of Block internal strategic changes, external industry changes, and market factors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
• Ability to make independent decisions; assume complete responsibility for work and decisions.
• Demonstrated project management skills, ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, balance short- and long-term priorities, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Effective math and analytical skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills, public relations skills, and detail-oriented.
• Experience in a retail or similar work environment is required; multi-unit experience is a plus.
• 5 years minimum related work experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; ability to operate a computer and applicable software packages.
• Three years of supervisory experience, including all aspects of coaching, counseling, and reviewing performance.
• Understanding of the dynamics of franchise owner/company owned environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel and maintain a flexible work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior District General Manager experience or Lead Franchise Support Manager.
• Balance of strategic and tactical planning & execution with a focus on the client experience.
• Extensive networking of contacts with all stakeholders, tapping into best practices to help develop a one team culture.
• Demonstrated experience in the franchise industry such as a Franchisee District Manager, Consultant, Developer, etc.

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is $91,000.00 - $145,600.00/Yr. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
