[Hiring] Business Development Specialist @Lonza

Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and commercially focused Business Development Specialist to support growth across the Lonza Biosciences Discovery portfolio, with a focus on the Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) market. This role is responsible for managing a defined territory, driving new business opportunities, and building strong customer relationships across low to mid-volume accounts. The ideal candidate brings solid sales fundamentals, technical understanding, and the ability to effectively manage the full sales cycle while collaborating with internal teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.

• Own and manage the full sales cycle for assigned accounts, including prospecting, opportunity development, closing, and account expansion.
• Manage a portfolio of low to mid-volume accounts while identifying opportunities to grow high-value customers within the territory.
• Achieve and consistently deliver on monthly and annual sales targets through effective pipeline management.
• Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships through cross-selling strategies.
• Maintain and manage a healthy sales funnel, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely progression of opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including scientific support, product management, and marketing teams, to meet customer needs.
• Develop and maintain strong knowledge of Lonza’s Biosciences Discovery portfolio and effectively communicate its value proposition to customers.
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and activities within the CRM system.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in sales or business development within the life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated experience managing the full sales cycle, including prospecting, pipeline management, and closing.
• Strong understanding of cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related scientific disciplines.
• Working knowledge of drug discovery workflows, pre-clinical development, and the Cell & Gene Therapy landscape.
• Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships through a consultative and solutions-oriented approach.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% as needed for customer engagement.

Requirements

• The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $93,000 to $109,000.
• Compensation for this role will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and relevant knowledge.
