Role Description

The Associate Director, Business Development & Corporate Strategy is a deal leader at PharmaEssentia, accountable for driving priority business development transactions from asset screening through term sheet to signing while contributing to enterprise and portfolio strategy. This role offers high visibility with senior leadership and a real opportunity to shape how PharmaEssentia does deals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead priority BD transactions end to end, from initial term sheet through negotiation, definitive agreements, and signing.
• Orchestrate internal alignment across Legal, IP, Finance, R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, and headquarters in Taiwan.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for counterparties, outside counsel, and advisors.
• Maintain rigorous deal documentation, trackers, and correspondence in shared systems.
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy and resolve day-to-day issues independently.
• Independently lead high-impact enterprise and therapeutic-area strategy projects.
• Drive cross-functional strategic initiatives spanning R&D, Commercial, Medical, BD, Regulatory, and Finance.
• Lead PharmaEssentia’s portfolio review process, including meeting design and preparation of executive/Board-level materials.
• Conduct commercial due diligence on target assets, including market sizing and competitive landscape assessment.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, Clinical, Commercial, Medical, and BD stakeholders.
• Produce high-quality, executive-ready PowerPoint materials and draft memos and analyses.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree strongly preferred (PhD, MD, PharmD, JD).
• 5+ years total experience in hands-on biopharma business development.
• Strong understanding of drug development, clinical evidence, market access, and commercial dynamics.
• Demonstrated experience orchestrating cross-functional deal processes.
• Exceptional analytical skills, including financial/market modeling and competitive assessments.
• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel mastery.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and influence skills.
• Experience in a lean BD function or a matrixed organization is a plus.
• Flexibility to collaborate across U.S. and Taiwan time zones, and 25% travel internationally.

• Mandarin is a plus but not required.
