Role Description

As part of the Ryder IT team, the AI Intern will perform a variety of job functions for traditional on-premises as well as cloud-based environments. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Developing and implementing AI models
• Working with structured, semi-structured, and/or unstructured data
• Data profiling/analysis
• Data ingestion
• ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
• Report and dashboard development
• Testing, documentation, and production environment support including troubleshooting and break fixes

The position could be extended past the summer internship period and may lead to a temporary position.

Qualifications

• Senior/Graduate Students pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, data science or computer engineering preferred
• Exposure to SQL, database management systems, NO-SQL databases, data integration tools like Informatica or Azure Data Factory preferred
• Exposure to cloud technologies and platforms desired
• Exposure to machine learning, predictive modeling and use of large language models desired
• Knowledge of scripting languages like UNIX shell scripting, Python, R preferred
• Must be self-motivated, results-oriented and accountable
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Passionate for learning
• Good organizational skills

• Cloud platform like Microsoft Azure desired
• BI tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, etc.)
• Certificate in Cloud based data ingestion, storage and analytics tools like Azure Data Factory, BLOB Storage, Power BI etc. completed or in progress desired
• Certificate in AI based tools like Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, AWS Sagemaker, etc. completed or in progress desired
• Certificate in database management systems or business intelligence completed or in progress preferred
• Robotic Process Automation (RPA) knowledge desired
• Windows and UNIX operating systems

Responsibilities

• Work with on-premise and cloud-based solutions and platforms
• Assist in the development and implementation of AI models and algorithms to solve real-world logistics and transportation challenges
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate generative AI and LLM capabilities into existing systems and workflows
• Analyze and document data requirements including facilitation of sessions with business
• Data analysis and profiling
• Collaborate with the technical team, in any given product development cycle, on data and AI requirements
• ETL source to target documentation including business matrix and functional requirements
• Develop and test data ingestion and integration processes
• Troubleshoot data ingestion, ETL and data issues
• Design and develop machine learning models, interactive visual dashboards, and reports
• Ability to write SQL queries to profile data and validate solutions delivered against data sources
• SQL troubleshooting
• Develop and test scripts to support ETL jobs execution
• Understand that the end user is the primary reason for the technology and therefore strive for full customer satisfaction
• Partner with key members of various departments to determine the definitions of essential data elements
• Work with data architects to review and implement logical and physical database models
• Support the mapping of source system data to target models into data warehouse and data lake
• Define and capture metadata and rules associated with the calculation of metrics
• Test automation
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education

• H.S. diploma/GED - High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Actively pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer Engineering. Business majors with minors in technical disciplines also considered

Compensation Information

• Hourly Pay Type
• Minimum Pay Range: $18.00
• Maximum Pay Range: $20.00
