[Hiring] Vice President, Regional Employee Benefits Carrier & Partner Relations @Alera Group

Role Description

We are seeking approval to establish a Vice President, Regional Employee Benefits Carrier & Partner Relations role to provide dedicated executive ownership of carrier relationships, compensation performance, and regional integration across the Northeast. This role will serve as the primary carrier-facing executive for the region, responsible for optimizing medical and ancillary carrier partnerships, improving incentive and contingency performance, and ensuring consistent alignment between regional execution and national carrier strategy.

The position is designed to centralize accountability for carrier revenue performance, strengthen executive-level carrier engagement, and improve consistency across a highly acquisitive and decentralized regional structure.

Responsibilities

• Carrier Relationship Leadership
  • Act as Northeast executive liaison for key medical and ancillary carriers
  • Manage senior-level carrier relationships and strategic discussions
  • Lead negotiations on compensation structures, incentives, and service agreements
  • Represent region in carrier escalations and executive forums
• Revenue & Performance Management
  • Own regional carrier compensation and incentive performance reporting
  • Identify opportunities to increase contingency income and bonus outcomes
  • Analyze performance trends and address underperformance with carriers
  • Partner with Finance and Operations on benchmarking and optimization
• Regional Integration & Alignment
  • Ensure consistent carrier program participation across acquired and legacy offices
  • Standardize carrier engagement practices across the region
  • Support integration during acquisition and earn-out phases
  • Increase transparency into carrier utilization and profitability by office
• Market Intelligence & Strategy Input
  • Synthesize carrier feedback on pricing, underwriting, and market dynamics
  • Provide insights on competitive and regulatory trends
  • Contribute regional perspective to national carrier strategy discussions
  • Support development of best practices for carrier engagement

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Employee Benefits consulting, carrier relations, or senior brokerage leadership
• Strong understanding of medical and ancillary carrier funding and incentive models
• Demonstrated success operating in multi-office or acquisitive environments
• Strong financial and analytical capability with ability to translate data into action
• Executive presence with ability to engage carrier leadership externally
• Ability to influence across decentralized regional teams
• Willingness to travel regionally as needed

Requirements

• Salary range: $200,000 – $225,000 per year
• Eligible for performance-based bonus: Yes
