Role Description
The Vice President of Development will build on A Better Balance's eighteen years of growth and impact to lead the strategy development, systems building, and revenue increase to achieve our vision.
- Leverage the strong foundation of policy, litigation, and direct services impact.
- Increase and diversify philanthropic revenue.
- Broaden relationships in the local and national philanthropic community.
- Maximize the Board of Directors' involvement.
- Build the fundraising infrastructure needed to advance ABB’s work.
- Serve as an essential external ambassador of the organization.
- Support tactical aspects of fundraising, including writing and editing materials.
Qualifications
- Passionate about the organization’s mission and values, and issues related to gender equity and other equity and justice issue areas.
- High comfort level in scaling small to mid-size organizations in a remote environment.
- Demonstrates proactivity and solutions thinking in ideas, communications, and planning.
- At least seven to ten years of relevant professional experience in fundraising.
- Experience in or knowledge of institutional and major gift fundraising.
- Highly skilled in persuasion writing and speaking.
- Experience in building fundraising infrastructure to support organizational size and strategic priorities.
- General experience with Board interactions and managing fundraising activities.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
Requirements
- Experience confirming new sources of revenue and increasing revenue growth.
- Comfort managing and performing in a two-person team.

Location & Travel
- Preferred location is New York City; candidates in other locations will be considered.
- Expect to travel to New York City approximately once a month.
- Additional travel for funder meetings or events may be required.
