As an Underwriter, you will:

• Determine individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions.
• Develop, analyze and evaluate information and exposures on risks of basic technical complexity with limited authority.
• Achieve production and loss ratio goals by reviewing and analyzing claims, loss history.
• Drive profit and premium to meet financial goals and objectives.
• Foster positive business relationships with agents and reinsurers.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.
• Three years related experience or prior experience as an underwriter, excess & surplus lines preferred.

Requirements

• Knowledge of lines underwriting policies, practices and procedures, insurance law and underwriting marketing principles and techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Demonstrates advanced negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze insurance risks to determine acceptability.
• Ability to devise business solutions to problems and monitor effectiveness.
• Ability to make decisions with minimal supervision.
