Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Trails Guide to deliver exceptional wilderness experiences through guided walking safaris, wildlife tracking, and luxury guest hosting. The successful candidate will possess extensive bush knowledge, advanced tracking abilities, dangerous game experience, and a strong commitment to safety, conservation, and guest service excellence.

  • Lead and conduct guided walking safaris and tracking activities in remote wilderness areas.
  • Safely manage dangerous game encounters through expert tracking and situational awareness.
  • Maintain and handle firearms in accordance with legal requirements and Wilderness safety standards.
  • Ensure accurate completion of walking logs, incident reports, vehicle records, and operational documentation.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and monitor maintenance requirements for assigned game drive vehicles.
  • Conduct comprehensive guest safety briefings before activities.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences through professional hosting, interpretation, and environmental education.
  • Support overall camp operations while maintaining strong working relationships across departments.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable legislation.

Qualifications

  • Full Trails Guide Certification (FGASA / NQA Level 3 or 4 or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a luxury safari or wilderness guiding environment.
  • Minimum 300 documented walking hours leading groups in dangerous game areas.
  • Valid Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) certification and firearm competency certification.
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) qualification or Level 2 First Aid certificate.
  • Valid Driver's Licence and Namibian Public Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Requirements

  • Advanced wildlife tracking and bush interpretation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Namibian ecosystems, flora, fauna, and animal behaviour.
  • Excellent guest engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and record-keeping abilities.
  • Mechanical awareness and commitment to vehicle and equipment care.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional physical fitness and ability to work in demanding outdoor environments.
  • High standards of professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and accountability.
  • A passion for wildlife and a commitment to sustainability and conservation.
