[Hiring] Studio Manager @Brandtech+

Role Description

We’re seeking a Studio Manager to join our dynamic team supporting a North American Client that works on exciting CPG brands. As a vital member of the resourcing function, you’ll closely partner with the Associate Director of Operations, the Business Director and on-site and remote teams. You will fulfill resource requests, monitor employee utilization, coordinate internal moves across accounts, and source high-quality talent for both short-term and long-term placements. This role also involves monthly reporting for retained accounts as well as data entry and maintenance within proprietary systems and partner platforms.

The Studio Manager owns capacity planning, resource allocation, and utilization tracking across the full studio. You maintain a real-time view of team capacity, flag bottlenecks before they impact delivery, and partner with Integrated Project Managers to ensure workload is balanced, SLAs are protected, and the studio operates at healthy utilization levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and screen top talent for open roles, leveraging your networks and knowledge of the creative and technology industry.
• Manage and triage resource requests from across the business, ensuring timely and accurate allocation of resources.
• Conduct initial screening of candidates from the freelance pool to assess skill set and culture fit.
• Screen referrals and build relationships with referred talent.
• Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring teams and discipline leads.
• Negotiate freelance rates and terms to ensure win-win agreements.
• Support freelance onboarding, ensuring a seamless start for new talent.
• Collaborate in developing and implementing best practices and processes for resource management.
• Foster relationships with on-site teams to ensure the best cultural fit and high performance.
• Build and maintain a pool of creative talent for various roles and markets to enable flexible scaling.
• Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and partner teams, acting as a trusted resource point.
• Own and lead the 3x Week Resourcing meetings, providing real-time resourcing solutions and ensuring estimated hours feel accurate and fair.
• Track and report on studio utilization metrics — flagging under- and over-utilization trends and recommending corrective action.
• Partner with Integrated Project Managers to resolve scheduling conflicts, manage resource dependencies, and proactively address bottlenecks.
• Coming out of the resourcing meeting work to resolve any outstanding resourcing needs.
• Meet with Account and Project Managers on a regular basis to ensure a full understanding of new briefs and the resources required to deliver to standards.
• Provide accurate monthly reporting for each of the retained team scopes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Resource Manager in an advertising or staffing agency setting.
• At least 3 years of sourcing/recruiting experience in a creative environment, with roles such as graphic/digital designer, account manager, art director, copywriter, and production artist.
• Proven expertise in attracting hard-to-find candidates in competitive markets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; comfortable working with all levels of staff and freelancers.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptable, enthusiastic, and confident with a creative approach to challenges.
• In-depth knowledge of the creative agency landscape.
• Gen AI & Agentic Thinking.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted workflow and resource management tools; willingness to develop proficiency with AI-assist capabilities.
• Systematic approach to capacity planning and problem-solving: structured, data-driven, and outcome-focused.
