[Hiring] Staff Cloud Security Engineer @Huntress

Role Description

Huntress is looking for a highly skilled Staff Cloud Security Engineer to join our fully remote team. You will take on the critical responsibility of securing the cloud-native infrastructure that powers our SaaS platform and internal processes. This role is perfect for a hands-on engineer who is passionate about designing, building, and defending highly scalable and secure cloud environments.

You will be a key player in ensuring our platform remains secure and resilient, enabling us to confidently protect the environments of our rapidly growing customer base.

Responsibilities

• Product Security:
  • Drive effective security detection and response across our production platform.
  • Interact with developers in SaaS production environments.
• Secure Cloud Architecture:
  • Design, evaluate, and implement architectural security standards for AWS, Azure, and PaaS cloud platforms.
  • Be a key stakeholder when onboarding new technologies or modifying existing ones.
• DevSecOps Collaboration:
  • Partner with internal DevOps and Platform teams to integrate security into the infrastructure-as-code lifecycle.
  • Engage via PRs and review IaC/HCL/DSL configurations.
• Threat Modeling:
  • Review architecture and product development pitches to ensure security and privacy by design.
• Platform Vulnerability and Risk Management:
  • Manage a robust vulnerability management program tailored to cloud environments.
  • Triaging high-severity alerts and coordinating with internal teams for mitigations or remediations.
• Threat Detection & Response:
  • Develop strategies to respond to and recover from security incidents.
  • Implement tools for threat detection and prevention.
• Own Security Compliance:
  • Own cloud security controls end-to-end, including design, monitoring, and remediation of control failures.

Qualifications

• Flexible Security Mindset: Approach security as a business enabler, balancing security, usability, and agility.
• SaaS Background: Experience in a fast-paced SaaS company with an understanding of cloud-first security challenges.
• Value Documentation: Recognize documentation as a critical tool for showing impact and value.
• A Security-as-Code / Infrastructure-as-Code Mindset: Comfortable with IaC tools such as Terraform / Spacelift.
• Proficiency with Scripting: Comfortable with a scripting language (e.g., Python, Go) for data parsing and log analysis.
• Team Player: Effective collaborator and communicator across functions.
• Deep Cloud Expertise: Extensive knowledge of AWS and/or Azure, with expertise in secure cloud architectures.
• Incident Response Knowledge: Familiar with incident response processes and computer forensic tools.
• Remote-First Collaboration: Excellent communicator in a distributed, asynchronous work environment.
