[Hiring] Sr. Business Operations & Network Optimization Manager @Octave

Role Description

Octave is looking for a Sr. Business Operations Manager & Network Optimization to lead the analytical and strategic work behind Octave’s provider network. This role will determine where we need supply, identify how to improve provider utilization and retention, and evaluate the network and growth investments that will expand access and strengthen performance across markets, payer panels, and service lines. You will serve as a strategic partner to leaders across Operations, Clinical, Growth, Finance, Product, and Data. You will turn complex questions into clear insights and recommendations, then work across teams to translate those recommendations into measurable results. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and pragmatic operator who is comfortable moving between detailed data, executive-level recommendations, and cross-functional execution. You bring clarity to ambiguity, communicate crisply, and focus the organization on the highest-impact opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provider network strategy
  • Assess and monitor provider supply relative to client demand across markets, specialties, payer panels, and care modalities.
  • Provide data-driven hiring targets and market priorities to Talent Acquisition and Clinical Operations.
  • Analyze available slot supply, access gaps, and provider capacity, including the operational and revenue implications of identified gaps.
  • Develop models and frameworks to project provider capacity needs based on client behavior, utilization patterns, and market trends.
  • Recommend network expansion or contraction, panel participation, and other actions that improve access and network performance.
• Clinical operations and provider performance
  • Partner with Clinical Operations on initiatives that improve provider utilization, retention, engagement, and performance.
  • Lead provider segmentation strategy and translate provider NPS, experience, and performance insights into differentiated actions.
  • Monitor key provider and network KPIs, investigate root causes, and recommend improvements with measurable impact.
  • Identify and advance Product and operational levers that improve provider discovery and utilization, including ranking, slot recovery, and provider-facing workflows.
  • Lead focused initiatives from analysis through implementation and handoff, ensuring clear ownership and sustained results.
• Reporting and strategic support
  • Build trusted reporting, dashboards, and recurring reviews on provider supply, demand, utilization, retention, and network performance.
  • Prepare concise executive and board-grade materials that clarify trends, implications, tradeoffs, and recommended actions for executive leaders to present.
  • Provide provider and clinical-operations insights that inform Product priorities and requirements.
  • Respond to ad hoc analysis requests from executives and external partners with accuracy and urgency.
  • Support select strategic planning and due-diligence efforts related to the provider network and clinical operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in management consulting, business operations, strategy and operations, analytics, or a comparable field. Familiarity with healthcare compliance and data privacy regulations is a plus.
• A track record of structuring ambiguous problems, analyzing complex data, and translating findings into practical recommendations and measurable results.
• Strong quantitative and financial acumen, including advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling and experience with business cases, forecasting, or performance analysis.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
• Exceptional organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Crisp written and verbal communication, including executive presentations that clarify insights, tradeoffs, and recommended actions.
• High agency, curiosity, and a willingness to move between strategy and hands-on execution.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to frequently communicate with others through virtual meeting applications such as Zoom and Google Meet.
• Must be able to observe and communicate information on company provided laptop.
• Move up to 10 pounds on occasion.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Compensation, Equity & Incentives

• Base Salary Range
  • Geo 1 (All other states & D.C.): $142,000 – $163,600
  • Geo 2 (CO, HI, MD, RI): $156,900 – $168,400
  • Geo 3 (AK, CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, WA): $164,000 – $176,000
• Variable Compensation & Equity
  • Performance Bonus: This role is not currently eligible for bonus incentives.
  • Equity Awards: This role is eligible to participate in Octave’s equity program via Stock Options, subject to the terms of the applicable Equity Incentive Plan.
• Remote Work Stipend: New full-time employees receive a $300 equipment reimbursement to support a home office setup.
• Internet & Phone Reimbursement: Full-time employees are eligible for a monthly reimbursement of up to $75 for internet and cell phone related expenses.
