[Hiring] Solutions Architect - Financial services (Principal or Director level) @Quantinuum

Role Description

Quantinuum is seeking a senior customer-facing technical leader to help shape and deliver quantum computing solutions for strategic customers in the financial services sector. This role may be hired at either the Principal or Director level, depending on organizational needs as well as the candidate’s experience, leadership scope, and demonstrated ability to lead teams and strategic portfolios.

In this role you will leverage your deep experience with computational and quantitative approaches in financial services industries such as:

• Portfolio optimization and asset allocation
• Derivatives pricing and quantitative finance
• Treasury, liquidity, and capital optimization
• Advanced fraud detection

This knowledge will guide you as you help customers identify challenges that are well suited to near-term quantum approaches and work with them to shape a project scope aligned with our research strengths. In addition, you will provide valuable market feedback to our research team leaders to help keep our research roadmaps aligned with industry needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clear, up-to-date catalogue of industry-appropriate use cases that guides both customer engagement and internal research planning.

While experience with or exposure to quantum technologies is valuable, the primary focus of this role is deep expertise in optimization (state-of-the-art mathematical modelling and solvers), quantitative methods, and computational problem-solving within financial services.

Candidates hired at the Director level will additionally be responsible for leading and developing the Solutions Architecture team, overseeing technical quality and prioritization across the broader customer portfolio, and helping define the operating model and best practices for the function while continuing to contribute directly to strategic customer engagements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mathematics, quantitative finance, computer science, or related field
• 10+ years working in quantitative, computational, or advanced analytics programs within the financial services sector
• (Director level only) Experience leading technical teams or managing direct reports in a customer-facing or applied research environment

Requirements

• Education: PhD in mathematics, physics, quantitative finance, computer science, or a related STEM field
• Experience working with or exposure to quantum technologies
• Significant experience managing customer relationships, with a track record of delivering successful and technically complex projects
• Comfortable partnering with sales leaders while maintaining independent technical judgement
• Strong ability to translate between business objectives and technical execution
• Executive-level communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence without formal authority
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
