[Hiring] Social Services Advocate @Committee for Public Counsel

Role Description

The Private Counsel Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services is seeking applicants for a Social Services Advocate position. This state-wide position will be part of the Private Social Work Services Unit, working closely with various programs under the guidance of the Director of Private Social Work Services.

• Provide direct client support and advocacy.
• Resource development and consultation for defense attorneys.
• Travel across the state to meet with clients and attend in-person meetings.
• Ensure CPCS clients achieve favorable legal and life outcomes.
• Provide consultation and training for attorneys.
• Resource development for the SSA Unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social service field and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience.
• Insured, reliable transportation, and a valid MA driver’s license.
• Access to home internet sufficient for remote work.
• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field and a valid professional independent clinical license is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with diverse individuals and families.
• Experience with conducting psychosocial interviews and needs assessments.
• Experience with case management and collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to conduct comprehensive records review.
• Knowledge of social, psychological, and legal factors influencing behavior.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships.
• Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with virtual conference platforms.
• Experience with unhoused populations is a plus.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
