Role Description

This is an internal position to provide technical expertise in the field of Chemical Engineering. This position, by way of applying past knowledge and experiences using a wide range of engineering principles, provides recommendations to help solve complex problems within the Resin processes. Responsibilities include:

• Providing expertise in Process Engineering in Resin Production and process capacity.
• Consulting and providing technical recommendations in the design of chemical processes with a focus on safety and efficiency.
• Providing technical solutions to problems found at existing locations based upon a full understanding of the products and process capabilities.
• Advising a project team of potential design or scope changes and their impact/benefit on the process.
• Leveraging product understanding and process capabilities to work with contracted engineering groups on new process design.
• Checking calculations for adherence to codes, specifications, design criteria, and overall RAGAGEP adherence.
• Collaborating on the development of a business case for new product/process development.
• Developing best practices and design standards to improve reliability and/or efficiency of existing chemical processes.
• Participating in different Process Hazardous Analysis (PHA) and hazard review techniques.
• Providing senior level expertise in relief system modelling and commissioning/startup of chemical processes.
• Investigating and providing written technical guidance on deviations from expected production.
• Organizing and leading new commissioning efforts, including closure of PSSR action items.
• Establishing good communication channels with operations and providing education and training.
• Representing the team to Leadership on difficult technical issues with recommendations to solve.

Qualifications

• Capable of networking within a matrix organization and working remotely.
• 5+ years of relevant chemical processes experience.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Familiarity with process safety, environmental, and Industrial Hygiene rules and regulations.
• Experience working with 3rd party engineering firms during Front End Engineering efforts.
• Experience on the plant floor in a chemical operating company.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Batch manufacturing experience.
• Extensive solid material handling and equipment design experience.
• Project management experience, especially in FEL efforts.
• Ability to communicate with different layers in the organization.
• Understanding of Fault Trees, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) techniques.
• Experience in chemical reaction relief system modelling.

Requirements

• BS in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• Ability to operate Excel spreadsheets and develop PowerPoint presentations; advanced skills in Excel and intermediate skills in PowerPoint required.
• Ability to collect and interpret data.
• Advanced computer skills.
• Familiarity with the Stage Gate Process for projects and their front-end development.
• Understanding of Gantt Charts and development in Microsoft Project.
• Mini-Tab experience is desired but not required.
• Familiarity with enterprise system software such as SAP.
• Expected travel can be up to 50%, but can be higher depending on business needs.
