Role Description
As Grüns scales rapidly, we’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager of Science & Regulatory to lead all things related to claims substantiation, regulatory compliance, and scientific innovation. This role will sit at the intersection of science, marketing, and product—ensuring we build trust with our customers, stay ahead of compliance risks, and continue to launch first-of-their-kind formulas backed by evidence and data.
This is a foundational hire for the business and an opportunity to shape how we think about research, compliance, and education as we expand our portfolio, and will report into our Head of Product.
This role is part of our remote HQ!
In this role, you will:
- Claims Research & Substantiation: Evaluate existing and emerging ingredients to develop new, evidence-based claims across our product portfolio (Grüns, Nütrops, and future innovations). You’ll be responsible for successfully implementing new claims across all current and upcoming products.
- Regulatory Support: Serve as the go-to expert for medical, regulatory, and scientific questions—supporting customer experience and PR teams with clear, accurate, and compliant responses.
- Marketing Compliance: Review CX and marketing materials to elevate claims, ensure FDA/FTC compliance, and proactively advise on regulatory risks. You’ll help ensure that all customer-facing content is both compliant and compelling.
- Innovation Research & R&D: Partner with the Product team to research ingredient benefits, inform new formulas, and support early-stage product ideation. You’ll play a key role in developing and supporting first-of-their-kind innovations.
- Clinical Studies: Lead and manage clinical study initiatives for new products, working closely with third-party partners to design and execute trials. You’ll be expected to launch or complete at least one clinical study to support a major innovation.
- Internal Education: Develop clear, scalable claims guidelines and training materials to up-skill internal teams. By year one, these should be embedded in onboarding and internal communications to ensure cross-functional fluency.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in science, regulatory affairs, or product development, including at least 2+ years at a supplement company in a regulatory, R&D, or related capacity.
- B.S. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field (Master’s preferred).
- Deep understanding of the supplement industry’s regulatory landscape, with the ability to take thoughtful, calculated risks.
- Strong ability to conduct literature reviews, analyze scientific data, and translate complex information into digestible content.
- Passion for uncovering new ingredient science and supporting product formulation.
- Experience with clinical trial design and execution is a major plus.
- Brings a collaborative, can-do approach to problem solving—focused on finding paths forward rather than roadblocks.
- Comfortable partnering with non-technical teams, including Marketing, to bring a scientific lens to brand storytelling.
- Curious, solutions-oriented, collaborative, and organized—with a bias toward action and creating scalable processes.
