[Hiring] Senior Manager Database Infrastructure @HealthEquity

Role Description

Ensure HealthEquity’s database platforms are reliable, secure, and scalable to support business growth and peak demands.

• Reduce operational risk by establishing strong standards, clear ownership, and disciplined execution across database operations.
• Enable modernization by leading database upgrades, migrations, security initiatives, and resilience improvements that support long‑term platform strategy.
• Own research and planning for growth, fault tolerance, load balancing, disaster recovery, and other critical database needs.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead and manage the DBA function, setting priorities, expectations, and accountability for production database operations.
• Own database reliability, performance, capacity planning, high availability, disaster recovery, security, and compliance.
• Establish and enforce enterprise standards for database administration, documentation, and change management.
• Partner with Systems, Platform, Security, and Architecture teams on database infrastructure design and implementation.
• Drive execution of strategic initiatives including upgrades, migrations, and technology adoption.
• Mentor and develop DBAs through technical reviews, training, and onboarding.

Qualifications

• Proven production expertise supporting mission‑critical Oracle and/or SQL Server environments, with a strong foundation in performance, availability, security, and operational excellence.
• Deep expertise in production database operations, performance tuning, capacity planning, and resilience.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to set direction, remove blockers, and hold teams accountable.
• Experience defining standards and driving consistent execution across complex, regulated environments.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to partner effectively across technical and business teams.

Onboarding & Travel

This is a remote role, with an in-person onboarding training component. New team members must participate in Trailhead , HealthEquity’s immersive onboarding experience.

• Trailhead is designed to foster meaningful connections, support your integration into the organization, and equip you with a strong understanding of our business.
• Trailhead participation is a key expectation of this role.
• Trailhead is held onsite at our headquarters once per quarter. HealthEquity covers all required travel and accommodations.
• This role may begin with a virtual, self-paced onboarding experience, followed by a mandatory onsite Trailhead session at a later date.
