[Hiring] Senior IT Audit Specialist @Sapientis Talent Management

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Audit Specialist / Consultant with strong mining sector experience to join a high-impact client assignment on a three-month fixed-term contract. This opportunity is suited to a technically strong IT Audit professional who can step into a complex mining environment, work independently, engage confidently with senior stakeholders, and deliver high-quality assurance across:

• IT General Controls
• Application controls
• IT governance
• Cyber risk
• Technology processes

The assignment is expected to commence shortly after mid-November 2026 and run for approximately three months, with a planned business shutdown of approximately one to two weeks over December.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and executing risk-based IT audits across mining and corporate technology environments.
• Reviewing IT General Controls (ITGCs) including:
  • User access management
  • Change management
  • IT operations
  • Privileged access
  • System development and implementation controls
• Performing application control reviews and evaluating system-based controls.
• Assessing IT governance, cyber risk, business continuity and disaster recovery.
• Conducting project, system implementation and technology risk reviews where required.
• Evaluating compliance against relevant governance and control frameworks, including COBIT, King IV, ITIL and related internal standards.
• Identifying control weaknesses and root causes, and developing practical, business-focused recommendations.
• Preparing clear, concise and well-supported audit reports for senior management.
• Working collaboratively with Internal Audit, IT, operational teams and business stakeholders.
• Following up on agreed remediation actions and supporting continuous improvement of the control environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, IT Audit, Internal Audit, Accounting or a related discipline.
• CISA, CIA or equivalent professional certification completed or in progress.
• Approximately 8–10+ years of IT Audit / Technology Risk experience.
• Demonstrated mining sector experience is critical and will be a key consideration.
• Strong practical experience in:
  • ITGCs
  • Application controls
  • Technology risk
  • IT governance
  • Cyber / information security controls
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery
• Experience with project assurance, system implementations or application reviews advantageous.
• Sound understanding of COBIT, King IV, ITIL, COSO and IIA standards.
• Strong report-writing and stakeholder-management capability.
• Ability to work independently and deliver within tight deadlines in a complex environment.
