[Hiring] Senior Health Economist @Genesis

Role Description

This position will fulfil both a technical and supervisory role in ensuring that the service line achieves its strategic objectives and entrenches Genesis as one of the leading health financing and economics consultancies in Africa.

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically strong Senior Associate with a solid foundation in two or more of the following technical domains:

• Health financing
• Health economics (including cost analysis)
• Public financial management
• Health systems strengthening

The ideal candidate should deliver high-quality, policy-relevant work in complex environments and combine rigorous analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate evidence into clear, actionable insights for senior decision-makers.

The candidate should be comfortable working across quantitative and qualitative domains and managing workstreams within multidisciplinary teams. In addition, the candidate should have practical experience using AI tools (such as Gemini, Claude or similar) to enhance research, analysis, and productivity, coupled with strong judgement in validating and refining AI-generated content. Critically, we are looking for an individual with the curiosity, creativity, and technical acumen to evolve into an advanced user of AI in a consulting context.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in health economics, health financing or similar
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant consulting experience
• Strong technical track record delivering high-quality analytical work across health financing and economics projects
• Experience working with or advising governments, bilateral donors, or multilateral development partners
• Advanced analytical capability, including quantitative analysis (strong Excel required) and structured synthesis of complex information
• Proven ability to produce clear, high-quality written and visual outputs for senior policy and decision-making audiences
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills; written and verbal fluency in English required; French advantageous
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability, sound judgement, and capacity to work independently while managing multiple priorities
• Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting or mentoring junior staff
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g. Gemini or similar), with the judgement and ambition to apply them effectively in a consulting context
