[Hiring] Senior Field Service Technician @Smurfit Westrock

Role Description

The Senior Service Technician provides technical service and training expertise to customers in the installation and maintenance of Smurfit Westrock packaging machinery. This assistance includes:

• Machine audits
• Planned maintenance
• Other customer requested technical services

Responsibilities include:

• Installation and service of Smurfit Westrock equipment in the field
• Conducting exit interviews with customers prior to leaving facility
• Managing on-site installation, repair, and maintenance of Smurfit Westrock machinery
• Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical problems
• Training operators and maintenance personnel on safe use and proper care of equipment
• Defining and explaining repairs and maintenance procedures to plant and internal personnel
• Working varying hours to meet customers’ production schedules
• Following all customer policies and procedures while in their facilities
• Communicating effectively with plant personnel at all levels
• Providing input/feedback for continuous improvements
• Completing FAT/PDI (acceptance testing) of machines as needed
• Leading significant machinery events
• Interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics
• Understanding and communicating ladder logic for software troubleshooting
• Ensuring service reports are completed and signed by the customer
• Completing expense reports in accordance with company policy
• Assisting in machinery check out and assembly as needed
• Training and mentoring junior service technicians

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical experience of more than 10 years
• Basic knowledge of OSHA procedures
• Self-motivated individual
• Certifications, technical degrees, or military training preferred
• Field service work is a plus
• Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong mechanical skills
• Moderate PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to author accurate and concise service and expense reports
• Passport required
• Adaptive with the ability to learn new technologies
• Team player with collaboration skills
• Able to follow strict safety guidelines
• Able to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 lbs

Requirements

• Travel: 80%-90%
• PLC experience required, preferably Allen Bradley
• Ability to legally travel both domestically and internationally up to 80-85%
