[Hiring] Senior Consultant, Claims Casualty @Nationwide

Role Description

As a Senior Claims Consultant, you'll investigate, evaluate and resolve complex claims of significant value. You'll provide direction to defense counsel handling lawsuits. We'll count on you to be a subject matter authority in a particular line of business or risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Handles, from inception to conclusion, the most serious and complex E&S claims.
• Settles or disposes of claims of significant value to the organization (e.g., risk exposure for individual policies in excess of $10 - 50 million).
• Identifies and manages reserves in compliance with company standards and practices.
• Provides litigation strategies and consultation in partnership with defense counsel.
• Monitors litigation trends and practices to ensure that lawsuits are handled consistently.
• Builds and maintains relationships with agents, brokers, and product developers.
• Acts as top-level expert in product development and management for specialty lines of business.
• Provides top-level consultation/direction to E&S Claims leaders, peers, and other business partners about severe specialty claims issues.
• Maintains current knowledge of multiple coverage lines and venue-specific court decisions.
• May manage associate performance, salary planning, and administration.
• May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate education in insurance, business, management, or related fields. Advanced degree preferred.
• Completion of insurance courses such as IIA, AEI, or CPCU preferred.
• Ten years prior insurance experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving complex coverage issues and litigated claims.
• Deep knowledge of the best claims practices used to resolve severe claims.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated personal computer skills and ability to operate claims and business software.

Requirements

• Associates must acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the designated time period.
• Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented.
