Role Description

Parsons is looking to hire a Senior Construction Manager!

The typical job duties of a Construction Manager would include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Accountable for the safe completion of all work efforts. Sets safety expectations among and between peers and subordinates. Resolves safety issues/concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Communicates safety lessons learned and promotes continuous learning of safe work methods, practices, and procedures.
• Manages contract field construction and maintenance activities at transmission and distribution facilities in accordance with approved project documents, established engineering practices, Federal, State and local laws, and construction industry standards to achieve world-class field construction performance.
• Coordinates internal and external resources to support project construction.
• Ensures Project Manager and project team are notified of any deviations in construction safety compliance, environmental compliance, schedule, design, materials, budget, and commissioning.
• Provides daily reports to management on project progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential project impacts.
• Reviews project design and construction documents to ensure constructability and schedule adherence.
• Ensures project schedule and specifications are being adhered to by field personnel and raises concerns as necessary.
• Ensures contractor compliance with Eversource standards and procedures.
• Ensures adherence to Contractor Safety Standards.
• Reviews project material requirements to identify items that have not been ordered to support the construction project. Coordinates delivery of materials to construction site.
• Conducts onsite construction management briefings and prepares reports reflecting project status, schedule, cost analysis, and project uncertainties.
• Requests and reviews switching; approves written switching instructions.
• Reviews and signs off on contractor timesheets, invoices, and change orders/change management.
• Provides onsite field presence to review contractors' work in accordance with the provided plans.
• Interfacing with the environmental compliance team to ensure environmental/permitting expectations and regulations are understood and followed by construction contractors.
• Interfacing on material management issues and with construction contractors to determine material and equipment requirements in the field.
• Interfacing with the testing & commissioning manager and providing oversight to the testing & commissioning prime contractor and Owner’s designated Lead Commissioning Engineer(s).
• Interfacing with the stakeholder and outreach coordination team to ensure all non-regulatory commitments are adhered to by the construction contractors.
• Reviewing contractor’s Job Hazard Analyses and identifying safety concerns in the field if they arise.
• Review and development of safety and work method practices in support of construction and maintenance activities.
• May be responsible for participating in or leading safety and operational incident investigations.
• May be required to establish accurate and professional communications with customers during a project.
• May be required to represent the supervisor in his/her absence.
• Acts as a mentor to other members of the department.
• Provides direction to vendor construction representatives.
• Provides substation escort for non-qualified individuals.
• Resolving scope and field issues.
• Leading construction status meetings.
• Ensures QA/QC of construction activities (e.g., reviewing and signing drill logs and T&M timesheets).
• Attends meetings and project updates with customers, as appropriate.
• Responsible for project reconciliations and close-out activities following completion of projects.
• May be required to work extended hours during certain phases of construction projects.
• Serves on-call as required.
• Supports Storm/ERP support as required.
• Clearance role requires the resource to hold clearance from the control center.
• Senior level will be assigned to higher complexity projects and may oversee other Construction Managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in construction-related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience).
• 15+ years of experience in field construction is required.
• Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.
• Requires extensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
• Demonstrated effective managerial capability is also required, as well as strong written and oral communications skills.
