Role Description
First American is looking to add a Commercial Title Examiner working remote. Do you enjoy searching public records and examining titles to determine legal condition of primarily commercial or industrial property title? You will be working on assignments that are varied and complex requiring breadth and depth of experience with different types of properties. Acting as a resource to less experienced team members, with an increased knowledge of state requirements. Projects undertaken can be multi-million-dollar commercial properties that may take days or even weeks to complete.
- Searches & Examines chains of title primarily for commercial land
- Performs title examination of complex title orders requiring a high level of title expertise
- Abstracts and analyzes records, such as leases, subleases, acreage, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plot and map books
- Determines ownership and legal restrictions and verifies legal description of property and completeness of records for examinations, including multi-site properties
- Writes title products based on the interpretation and application of procedural guidelines
- Provides underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
- May have customer contact
Qualifications
- Problem solver who has strong organizational skills, is detail oriented, with an eagerness to learn
- Knowledge of MS Office suite and ability to quickly adapt to new software applications and technologies
- Knowledge of legal terms used in title documents
- Able to read and decipher legal descriptions relating to title orders
- Wind and Solar experience a plus
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Commercial Title experience
- Multiple state licenses (as required by state) to do business in a broad geographic area
- 6+ years directly related experience
- Must have Title search & examining experience in Los Angeles County, CA
Requirements
- Pay Range: $30.14-$40.18 Hourly
- This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting
- Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location
