[Hiring] Senior Building Code & Accessibility Consultant @Axis Recruitment

Role Description

This is a senior-level position at a small, growing boutique consulting firm specializing in building code and accessibility consulting across Ontario and beyond. The firm is looking for someone who can take ownership of projects and run with them independently.

• Lead building code and accessibility reviews on commercial projects with minimal oversight
• Prepare reports, drawing reviews, and letters of interpretation for accessibility and building code
• BCIN stamping for interior fit-outs
• Manage project timelines and client communication directly
• Conduct site visits in the GTA to review existing conditions
• Engage and coordinate with cost consultants on applicable projects
• Mentor junior and intermediate staff as the team grows
• Participate in industry events, conferences, and occasional educational presentations

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in building code, accessibility consulting, or a closely related field in the built environment
• Commercial project experience (the bulk of the work is commercial)
• Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code and accessibility standards (AODA, OBC Barrier-Free)
• Membership or registration with a recognized professional body (ARIDO, P.Eng, OAAAS, etc)
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Strong technical writing skills
• Able to conduct site visits in the GTA and has access to a vehicle
• Comfortable managing multiple smaller projects simultaneously with competing deadlines
• Client-facing communication skills

Requirements

• P.Eng designation (Nice-to-Have)
• BCIN (Large/Complex Buildings and/or Small Buildings) (Nice-to-Have)
• Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) (Nice-to-Have)
• Background as an interior designer or architectural technologist (Nice-to-Have)
• Familiarity with Class D / order-of-magnitude budgeting (Nice-to-Have)
• Experience submitting or supporting RFP/fee proposals (Nice-to-Have)

Benefits

• Compensation: $70,000 to $100,000 depending on experience and certifications
