[Hiring] Senior Bioinformatics Engineer @EPAM Systems

Role Description

We are currently seeking experienced Senior Bioinformatics Engineers to join our growing Life Sciences practice. At EPAM, you'll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and science, contributing to cutting-edge solutions in the life sciences domain.

Responsibilities:

• Understand scientific problems and propose technical solutions
• Take initiative in leading technical solutions while working independently on complex bioinformatics challenges
• Develop robust bioinformatics solutions and data processing pipelines
• Implement and maintain scientific software applications and tools
• Create and optimize databases for biological data storage and retrieval
• Collaborate with scientists and technical teams to translate scientific requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure code quality and documentation meet industry standards
• Participate in the full SDLC (software development lifecycle)

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Python programming, including object-oriented programming principles
• Experience with version control systems, API concepts, and basic knowledge of SDLC
• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and basic-level data structures and algorithms
• Background in Molecular Biology fundamentals
• Experience with basic bioinformatics tools and omics data analysis (RNA-seq, DNA-seq, ChIP-seq, or others)
• Experience with one of the bioinformatics workflow description languages (Nextflow, WDL, CWL, Snakemake, or others)
• Understanding of bioinformatics data ecosystems, including major biological databases, standard file formats (VCF, FASTA, BAM, etc.), and associated data management workflows
• Basic knowledge of biostatistics

Requirements

• Knowledge of system design, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies
• Familiarity with Linux environments, containerization, and cloud platforms
• Experience working on High Performance Computing Environments
• Skills in data analysis and engineering, including running bioinformatics pipelines on a large scale
• Advanced knowledge of bioinformatics algorithms and expert-level understanding of bioinformatics data resources
• Advanced biostatistics and deep understanding of molecular biology concepts
• Experience with multi-omics data integration
