Role Description

The primary function of the Risk Consultant is to provide proactive, data-driven risk management consultative services, guidance, education, and expertise to physicians, practices, hospitals, and other clinicians insured by Coverys. This is an active rather than a passive approach.

• Experience in complex healthcare-delivery settings.
• Strong familiarity with malpractice data and other data sets.
• Ability to interpret the significance of the data.
• Highly developed risk assessment skills.
• Broad knowledge of patient safety models, concepts, and practices responsive to malpractice risk drivers.

To be successful in this role, the Risk Consultant must be able to:

• Be highly proficient in the use of data for risk mitigation and client servicing.
• Articulately present and interpret data to various audiences.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify preventable risk vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders post-assessment to implement risk reduction strategies.
• Provide expert-level risk management and patient safety consultations.
• Develop customized risk service plans based on past exposures and current risks.

Qualifications

• RN or Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• Certification in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) within the first year.
• 3-5 years of experience in healthcare delivery, risk management, and patient safety principles.
• Experience in committee leadership and supervisory roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other technology-based applications.

• Utilize active listening skills to achieve the best outcomes.
• Deliver powerful presentations using data to frame risk concerns.
• Document all client interactions within defined timeframes.
• Develop and update Coverys Risk Management resources.
• Manage diverse and large accounts with high customer satisfaction.
• Organize, prioritize, communicate, and meet established deadlines.
• Travel efficiently while managing travel schedules.
• Understand and follow client and company confidentiality and HIPAA policies.

Benefits

• Base salary range is $90,985 - $123,095.
• Individual compensation packages based on various factors unique to each candidate.
