Role Description

The Ohio State University is seeking applications for the position of Compliance Specialist, Conflict of Interest. The position reports to the Director, Conflict of Interest (COI) in ERIK’s Research Compliance team.

• Support Ohio State’s COI program by conducting routine COI reviews.
• Advise principal investigators and research teams on completion of COI disclosure forms.
• Assist with developing, operating, and managing processes for auditing completion of COI disclosure forms and compliance with conflict management plans.
• Develop, execute, and document specific conflict management plans involving researchers’ outside activities.
• Improve the electronic Conflict of Interest (eCOI) approval and disclosure processes.
• Coordinate and execute various administrative duties related to the Research Compliance team’s COI processes and procedures.
• Coordinate and schedule COI training for researchers and administrative staff.
• Monitor the shared COI inbox.
• Assist with developing Standard Operating Procedures.
• Manage the reporting of COI metrics to ERIK Research Integrity and Investigations.
• Assist with tracking and managing COIs involving researchers’ outside activities.
• Assist with tracking and managing federal sponsor reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of two years of experience in higher education, research administration, or compliance related to conflict of interest.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in conflict of interest, research administration, human subject protection, and/or compliance in higher education.
• Excellent verbal, written and visual communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of state and federal regulations.
• Complex regulatory analysis, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop strong relationships and work with faculty, staff, and students and be receptive to their feedback.
