Role Description

An established UK-based specialist construction and fire protection business is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor based in South Africa to support its growing portfolio of projects across the United Kingdom. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially strong Quantity Surveyor who would like to work remotely from South Africa while gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of UK construction projects.

The Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for projects from initial tender and cost planning through to project delivery, variations and final account. Working closely with the UK-based operational and project teams, you will ensure projects are commercially controlled, accurately costed and delivered within agreed margins.

Qualifications

• Degree, diploma or recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience within construction, building services or a specialist contracting environment.
• Strong experience in estimating, tendering, BOQs, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Experience working across commercial, government, public-sector, healthcare, education, defence/military or large residential projects would be advantageous.
• Experience within passive fire protection, fire stopping, fire doors, MEP, fit-out, drylining, refurbishment or another specialist subcontracting environment would be highly advantageous.
• Exposure to UK construction projects, contracts or commercial practices would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Strong Excel and commercial reporting capability.
• Comfortable interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
