Role Description

The Public Funding Manager, Enduring Earth (Manager) will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the Enduring Earth partnership by developing and coordinating plans and related tactics, and overseeing day-to-day tasks related to public fundraising for PFPs.

As TNC’s primary point of contact for public fundraising efforts for PFPs, the Manager will:

• Coordinate with communicators, fundraisers, relationship managers of PSEs, external affairs staff, and executive leaders across the organization.
• Mobilize public resources for the PFP projects and partnerships.
• Serve on the Enduring Earth Resource Mobilization Committee and other partnership working groups.
• Work closely with the Public Funding Center to align their work with the One Conservancy Public Fundraising Strategy.
• Follow all policies and SOPs governing PSE engagement and coordinate with relationship managers prior to any planned outreach to PSEs.
• Analyze public fundraising feasibility and develop and support implementation of fundraising plans for each TNC-led PFP.
• Coordinate with TNC relationship managers to cultivate and solicit PSEs.
• Facilitate joint strategy calls and develop follow-up materials.
• Coordinate development of concept notes, grant proposals, and may act as a lead or supporting writer for public funding proposals.
• Provide coordination support to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines, and manage supplemental materials required for proposals.
• Seek and synthesize information and communicate in a convincing and succinct form to all stakeholders.
• Participate in strategy and proposal development in collaboration with internal departments and teams to meet specific goals and funding targets.
• Use BBCRM and support the management and maintenance of PFP public funding pipeline data and prioritized funding proposal support requests.
• Collaborate with TNC’s public grants specialists to build proposal budgets based on a strong understanding of organizational budgeting.

Responsibilities & Scope

• Manage and serve as team lead on assigned public funding proposals and projects for PFPs.
• Coordinate teams across TNC to support public fundraising for TNC-led PFPs.
• Act independently, exercise sound judgment to identify and solve complex problems.
• Design and manage multiple projects, managing budget, setting deadlines, and ensuring accountability.
• Evaluate team results and develop recommendations for corrective strategies, as needed.
• Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.
• Align initiatives to ensure department and organization-wide goals and strategies are achieved.
• Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, and financial standards are met and managed for compliance.
• Resolve complex issues independently within assigned public funding proposals and projects for PFPs.
• Financial responsibilities include budget planning and assisting with monitoring and administration of a budget.
• Minimize legal risk to the Conservancy and ensure legal compliance with applicable state and local regulation.
• Potential for travel (up to 20% time), at times on short notice, and long or flexible working hours.
• Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience leading and implementing multiple public funding proposals and projects.
• Experience negotiating complex agreements.
• Experience with current and evolving technology in public fundraising, e.g. Microsoft and Google applications (Word processing, Excel), CRM systems, etc.
• Experience working with teams across organizations.
• Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of public fundraising and/or conservation.
