Role Description
We're seeking an experienced Project Development Engineer to drive the technical design and engineering aspects of our solar and battery storage projects. Reporting to the Director of Program Development, you'll provide expert oversight throughout the development process, from initial design to handoff for deployment.
- Define critical project parameters including equipment selection, system layout, and interconnection strategies that meet property-specific requirements across diverse jurisdictions and utilities.
- Manage relationships with external engineering partners, reviewing and approving project plansets while ensuring all technical documentation supports successful interconnection and permitting.
- Coordinate with property owners, construction teams, architects, and internal stakeholders to align expectations, secure necessary approvals, and facilitate smooth project transitions.
- Lead the preparation and submission of interconnection applications and other program documentation crucial for project approval and financing.
Qualifications
- Technical expert with a four-year engineering degree and at least 5 years of experience in commercial solar and battery storage project development.
- Design specialist proficient with solar and battery storage design tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, and Energy Toolbase.
- CAD professional with hands-on experience creating 30% design documents for solar interconnection.
- Project manager capable of coordinating complex design projects and managing relationships with external partners.
- Communication pro with exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
Requirements
- Multi-market experience submitting interconnection and community solar applications across different jurisdictions.
- Drafting expertise in creating project plansets for various approval processes.
- Financial acumen with project cost estimating or budget management experience.
- Field knowledge from conducting site inspections of rooftop commercial solar projects.
- Construction background in commercial or industrial building projects or EV charging systems.
