Role Description
NPR’s How I Built This is looking for a temporary Producer I to join our highly collaborative and creative team.
- Produce three programs each week:
- An hour(+) long podcast featuring an extended interview with host Guy Raz and a prominent entrepreneur
- A 45-minute long Advice Line podcast featuring Guy and a former guest, giving business advice to start-up founders
- An hour-long radio show: a hybrid of Planet Money and HIBT
- Rotate through assignments including intensive audio production, research, and background interviews of potential guests
- Occasionally fill in as a backup editor, working with team members on shaping and structuring their episodes
Qualifications
- At least five years audio editing and production experience, preferably in long-form narrative
- High proficiency in ProTools editing software
- 4-5 years experience researching and writing for audio: broadcast and/or podcast
- A passion for business and entrepreneurship
- Impeccable track record with fact-checking and experience with quality assurance on final scripts and audio
- Ability to learn production platforms quickly and handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and changing conditions
- Ability to collaborate smoothly with others, demonstrating respect for the diverse constituencies at NPR and beyond
- Highly supportive of cultivating and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Ability to manage all of the above with minimal supervision
Requirements
- Ability to shape, edit and score audio with confidence, and on deadline
- As assigned, ability to edit other people’s work and efficiently communicate what’s needed to improve it

Work Location
- This is a remote permitted role
- This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves
