Role Description

The Amazon Security, Special Programs Evaluations Assessments & Response (SPEAR) Team is seeking an experienced and talented Physical Security Evaluator to join the SPEAR Evaluations Europe, Middle East & Africa Team (EMEA). This position is responsible for performing physical security evaluations of our facilities in the EMEA region.

You will join a cadre of experienced and skilled specialists responsible for evaluating the application of physical security, including people, processes, and technology. You will identify and document vulnerabilities, provide guidance on the path to resolution, and are responsible for all written reports related to the evaluations you conduct. You will participate in the development, analysis, and implementation of physical security standards and identify areas for improvement.

As a SPEAR Evaluator, you will partner and work directly with other AWS/Amazon Physical Security Teams, AWS/Amazon Management, and customers to aid in the real-world application of physical security to existing and new facilities. You will also review new technology and security measures for possible application to the existing suite of security processes and measures to enhance the security posture of our facilities.

You must be able to work at all levels from the theoretical knowledge of physical security protection systems and principles to the practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures. The Physical Security Specialist must execute detailed evaluations of our existing facilities, identifying areas which can be improved to enhance the physical security posture of each site.

Evaluations are conducted in person on AWS/Amazon properties around the globe and require you to travel up to 50% of the time. You will work in environments where you may be exposed to loud noises, cold, heat, adverse weather, and elevated structures. You must be able to climb ladders and work with diagnostic tools, and utilize hand tools to inspect equipment at elevated heights. You will conduct inspections of extensive open spaces and fence lines that include walking significant distances, both during day and nighttime hours, and stand for significant periods of time. You must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, eye protection, impact resistant head protection, safety footwear, high visibility clothing, cut resistant gloves, and other PPE as required by local ordinance or regulation.

Key job responsibilities

• Organize and lead the execution of evaluations of facilities within the EMEA Region. Ensure all issues identified as part of this evaluation process are documented and all evaluation related documentation is completed within the required parameters.
• Partner directly with AWS/Amazon Security partners to review security related documentation and help them understand the implementation of all physical security standards and policies to their real-world environment.
• Develop and review new technology and security measures for possible application to the existing suite of security processes and measures to enhance the security posture of our facilities.
• Assist the global SPEAR Team to determine the strategic direction of the Physical Security Program based on customer interaction and demonstrative outputs.
• Keep the leadership team fully informed of stakeholder and customer engagement status, issues, and activities.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends and events. Develop and maintain connections with key industry personnel and manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Experience working on physical security design and implementation of Access Control/Intrusion Detection and CCTV Surveillance systems.
• Experience building and growing relationships with internal and external partners.
• Experience conducting physical security assessments, inspections, evaluations of people, processes and/or measures including access control/intrusion detection and video surveillance systems.
• Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) experience.
• Travel up to 50% of your working time across the region and globally.
• Ability to successfully perform key job functions in a physically demanding work environment.
• This role requires you to be a national of an EU Member state.

Requirements

• Experience in physical security best practices including application of physical security systems, investigation techniques, management of contract security guards and incident management.
• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
• Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks.
• Experience handling confidential information.
• Experience in written and oral communication, including the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization (technical, business, executive).
• Applicable physical security industry specific qualifications, certifications, and/or education.
