We’re looking for a PhD Chemical Engineering Expert for a US-based AI research company focused on building expert-level data to train and evaluate AI models, on an hourly contract basis. If you are rigorous, a clear communicator with Aspen Plus and MATLAB, keep reading!

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Apply your chemical engineering expertise to create and review expert-level technical problems and solutions
• Assess the technical accuracy of AI-generated answers and explain where and why they go wrong
• Write clear, well-reasoned explanations that other engineers can verify
• Work independently on an hourly basis, flagging uncertainty and explaining it when a case is ambiguous

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering science
• Deep expertise in one or more of these areas: electrochemical reactor engineering, transport phenomena (fluid flow and heat transfer), chemical engineering thermodynamics, separation processes, process design, and process dynamics and control
• Ability to explain complex technical reasoning in clear written English
• Rigor and attention to detail when checking calculations and assumptions

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with process simulation or modeling tools such as Aspen Plus or MATLAB
• Published research or industry experience applying these areas to real systems
• Prior experience with AI model evaluation, data annotation, or expert review work
