Role Description

We are looking for a talented and driven Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team. This position is primarily a full-time remote position Monday – Friday but will need to be willing to travel and attend job-related events in the Chicagoland area as needed.

As part of our Billing team, you will help us impact the lives of our kiddos by:

• Ensuring insurance claims are processed timely and appropriately.
• Resolving patient inquiries with a strong focus on customer service.
• Following up on accounts with payors/patients and ensuring authorization and eligibility verification is timely.
• Reviewing account information and remittance advice to verify proper reimbursement.
• Following up on resolution of accounts with patients and payors.
• Ensuring proper processing and following up with third party collections, payors, and patient families as needed.
• Verifying that records include all information required for Third Party reimbursement.
• Consulting with claims processors at Third Party Payer companies regarding disputes/denied claims.
• Supporting other billing, authorization, and eligibility related team projects as needed.
• Serving as a partner to our providers and billing teams to ensure timely appropriate billing and collections.

In this position, the Account Representative is expected to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills during every interaction. They will work closely with providers, payors, and patients responding timely to inquiries in efforts to follow up on payments and resolve accounts.

Qualifications

• A self-starter that can initiate and perform tasks without continuous direction.
• High school or GED required.
• Three years physician billing and collections experience required.
• In-depth knowledge of payer reimbursement policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
• Ability to be well organized, detail-oriented, in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to think critically and identify the global impact across the revenue cycle with a solution-oriented approach.

Requirements

• Answering phone and email billing inquiries, assisting patients with understanding their accounts and supporting them in coordinating payment.
• Reviewing explanation of benefits (EOBs) to ensure proper reimbursement of claims and reporting any problems, issues, or payer/patient trends.
• Analyzing accounts and determining the next appropriate action for account resolution, including follow up with payors, offsite Billing vendor, or patient.
• Identifying, resolving, and escalating trends to ensure timely payment.
• Confirming the requirements and data needed for approval of the authorization, obtaining the required information from the service provider, and liaising with insurance companies for prior authorization approval as needed.
• Assisting in additional billing/authorization related requests/projects as needed, including verifying accurate authorizations and referrals, confirming accurate eligibility information, and timely follow up with payors, providers, and patients as needed to resolve accounts.
• Collaborating with management to reduce aging of accounts through verbal and written communication.
• Assisting patients who need treatment requiring insurance carrier pre-authorization.
• Working with patients and teammates with the highest standards of customer service excellence.
