[Hiring] Occupational Safety and Health Specialist 2 @State of Washington

Role Description

The Washington State Department of Agriculture has been serving the state for more than 100 years. Through service, regulation, and advocacy, we keep agriculture viable and vital in Washington State, while protecting consumers, public health, and the environment. This position coordinates and develops several major statewide components of WSDA Agriculture's comprehensive emergency preparedness program, which includes employee security, safety, and health.

• Complies with federal and state laws, including OSHA and WISHA regulations.
• Coordinates and facilitates program components with other agencies and jurisdictions.
• Ensures compliance with emergencies, environmental, safety, and health regulations.

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain a valid WA State driver’s license.
• A bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, safety studies, natural science, business or public administration, education or allied field.
• Three years of professional experience in occupational safety and health programs.
• OR a master's degree in the relevant fields may substitute for two years of experience.
• Equivalent education/experience is acceptable.
• Preferred: Two years' experience overseeing a workplace respirator program.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certified Instructor.

Requirements

• Oversees, administers, develops, and coordinates components of the emergency preparedness program.
• Implements and sustains an internal emergency preparedness program.
• Coordinates and directs the agency ID card program.
• Conducts site visits to ensure a safe workplace.
• Maintains department-wide emergency preparedness plans and procedures.
• Researches state and federal rules and regulations.
• Coordinates the Washington State Department of Agriculture Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
• Drives agency vehicle throughout the state for emergency preparedness operations.
• Oversees and ensures compliance with the department's respirator and fit-testing program.
• Coordinates agency-wide training for Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, CPR, AED, and Wilderness Remote First Aid.
