[Hiring] National Energy Practice Lead @Connico

YDay - Connico is hiring a remote National Energy Practice Lead. 💸 Salary: $175,000–$225,000 + performance-based bonus 📍Location: USA

Role Description

Connico is seeking an accomplished nuclear/Energy leader to establish, grow, and lead our national Energy Practice, initially focused on commercial nuclear and advanced nuclear. This is a rare opportunity for someone who has already developed meaningful industry relationships, market credibility, and technical expertise and is ready to use that experience to help shape a new practice with lasting impact.

You will help determine the clients we pursue, the opportunities we prioritize, the services and capabilities we develop, the work we deliver, and ultimately the team that supports the Practice. This is a true seller-doer and practice-building role: someone who can develop relationships and create business while remaining closely connected to the successful leadership and delivery of the work.

What You’ll Own

  • Client Relationships & Business Growth
    • Build and expand trusted relationships with Energy-sector clients, partners, industry leaders, and senior decision-makers.
    • Use market knowledge and existing relationships to identify client needs, open strategic opportunities, and develop profitable new business.
    • Build and manage a qualified pipeline of Energy opportunities.
    • Develop strategic accounts and identify opportunities for new work, expanded services, and long-term client relationships.
    • Lead opportunity qualification, pursuit strategy, scope development, proposals, pricing strategy, interviews, and negotiations.
    • Serve as a senior Connico representative and trusted advisor in client, industry, and business-development settings.
  • Energy Practice Development
    • Help define and execute Connico’s Energy-market strategy, initially focused on commercial and advanced nuclear.
    • Evaluate market needs, client priorities, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
    • Determine where Connico should focus, invest, and build capability as the Practice develops.
    • Identify the services, partnerships, resources, and expertise required for sustainable growth.
    • Establish Practice goals, priorities, performance measures, and longer-term growth strategy.
    • Help recruit, develop, and mentor dedicated Energy resources as the Practice expands.
  • Project & Technical Leadership
    • Lead Energy engagements from scope development through successful execution.
    • Personally contribute within your areas of technical expertise while leveraging Connico’s existing multidisciplinary resources.
    • Develop technical approaches, work plans, staffing strategies, deliverables, schedules, and fee requirements.
    • Lead client meetings, executive discussions, technical reviews, and presentations.
    • Confidently explain and defend assumptions, methodologies, findings, risks, and recommendations.
    • Provide senior technical review, quality oversight, and practical solutions to complex project challenges.
  • Practice Performance
    • Maintain accountability for the business, financial, client, technical, and delivery performance of the Energy Practice.
    • Monitor revenue growth, pipeline, forecasting, profitability, project performance, client satisfaction, quality, and other agreed-upon performance measures.
    • Ensure growth remains aligned with Connico’s ability to successfully staff, execute, and deliver the work.
    • Develop a Practice that creates lasting value for both Connico and its clients.

Qualifications

  • Significant professional credibility within commercial nuclear, advanced nuclear, or closely related Energy infrastructure.
  • Established Energy-sector relationships with relevant decision-makers and evidence of using trusted relationships to create opportunities, grow accounts, advance strategic initiatives, or otherwise contribute to business growth.
  • Experience building or materially expanding a market, practice, team, capability, service, client portfolio, or business initiative.
  • Strong Project Controls or major-project credibility, with deep expertise in at least one relevant area such as Cost Estimating, Scheduling, Constructability, Project Controls, Project Management, Program Management, or complex capital-project delivery.
  • Sufficient technical breadth to scope, lead, coordinate, and defend multidisciplinary work with sophisticated clients.
  • Experience leading complex Energy, infrastructure, or capital-project engagements.
  • Strong business judgment, communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-development skills.
  • Ability to operate credibly with executive-level clients and industry leaders.
  • Ability to lead through influence across multidisciplinary teams and an established organization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with accountability for profitable, sustainable growth.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Must reside in the United States.

Experience That May Strengthen Your Fit

  • Additional experience in one or more of the following areas may be valuable:
    • Commercial nuclear owners/operators or major nuclear programs.
    • Advanced or new nuclear initiatives.
    • Consulting, engineering, EPC, construction, program management, or owner/operator environments.
    • Strategic account development, capture, or business-development leadership.
    • Building or expanding a new market, practice, service line, capability, or business unit.
    • Financial or P&L responsibility.
    • Strategic partnerships or teaming relationships.
    • Adjacent Energy or major power-infrastructure markets.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $175,000–$225,000, depending on the combination and depth of Energy-industry relationships, business-development capability, practice-building experience, technical leadership, and other job-related qualifications. In addition to base salary, this position includes a significant performance-based bonus opportunity, with the potential for additional compensation to grow as Connico’s Energy Practice develops.
