[Hiring] Mortgage Underwriting Trainer @Neighbors Bank

Role Description

At Neighbors Bank, strong underwriting is the foundation of every successful mortgage. We’re looking for a Mortgage Underwriting Trainer who brings deep underwriting expertise and a genuine interest in helping others develop their skills.

In this role, you’ll help shape the strength and consistency of the entire underwriting team:

• Train and coach Underwriters and Junior Underwriters on guidelines, systems, and underwriting best practices.
• Support onboarding and development of new underwriting team members.
• Develop and maintain training materials and curriculum across Conventional, FHA, USDA, and VA loan products.
• Provide individualized coaching and act as the first escalation point for trainees.
• Review loan files and make credit decisions when providing underwriting coverage.
• Assist leadership with second-level reviews, audits, and quality control initiatives.
• Partner with Underwriting leadership to identify skill gaps and strengthen team performance.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• At least 1 year of underwriting training, coaching, or mentoring experience.
• Experience underwriting Conventional, FHA, and USDA loan products.
• Strong working knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines and loan documentation.
• The ability to analyze borrower financials and assess overall loan risk.
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, production-driven mortgage environment.
• Experience using the systems and technology required for a fully remote lending organization.
• Completion of any required FHA/HUD designation training and USDA training, after starting with our company.
• Consistent reliability and the ability to meet performance expectations in a team-based environment.
