Role Description

Marin Architects is a leading New York-based architecture and design firm recognized for delivering thoughtful, innovative solutions across a wide range of project types—including commercial, mixed-use, residential, hospitality, and institutional developments. We are seeking a mid-level Construction Expediter / DOB Filing Representative to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience with NYC Department of Buildings filings, including both the DOB BIS system and DOB NOW, and will be familiar with the full approval process for architectural and construction applications.

This is a mid-level position intended for someone who already understands the NYC filing process and can work with a reasonable level of independence while still coordinating closely with the architectural team.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and filing DOB applications through BIS and DOB NOW
• Coordinating with architects and project managers to obtain required documents
• Tracking objections and plan examiner comments
• Assisting with permits and post-approval amendments
• Coordinating with FDNY and other agencies when required
• Monitoring project status
• Maintaining filing records, and helping resolve agency issues that arise during the approval process

Qualifications

• Several years of New York City expediting experience
• Strong working knowledge of DOB BIS and DOB NOW
• Familiarity with DOB filing requirements and procedures
• Ability to communicate clearly with City agencies, architects, consultants, contractors, and clients
• A current expediting license or DOB Filing Representative registration is required
• Experience with Class 1 or Class 2 filing representative work is preferred
