This role requires an understanding of how micro-credentials differ from certificates, badges, and degree programs, including the ways they are structured to support stackable learning, competency-based education, and modular learning pathways.

The successful candidate will be familiar with digital badging concepts and workflows, including credential metadata, verification, and the processes through which credentials are issued, shared, displayed, and validated. In this role they will act as a key liaison among academic and administrative units, platform users, vendors, and IT teams to ensure business needs are accurately translated into effective system solutions.

This position will serve as part of a collaborative team that supports the University’s educational technology ecosystem, including Canvas and related teaching and learning systems. The role will work closely with colleagues across functional and technical areas to help ensure systems are effectively administered, integrated, and aligned with institutional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day administration, configuration, and continuous improvement of the micro-credential platform and related systems.
  • Serve as a primary liaison among academic and administrative units, program owners, vendors, and information technology teams to gather, analyze, document, and validate business and system requirements.
  • Coordinate the development, approval, launch, modification, and retirement of micro-credentials in partnership with colleges, academic units, continuing and professional education teams, and other campus partners.
  • Oversee end-to-end credential and badge issuance workflows, including setup, learner enrollment, completion tracking, verification, and issuance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Monitor platform stability, user access, data integrity, system performance, workflows, integrations, and related dependencies; investigate issues, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate resolution with internal support partners and external vendors.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, patches, enhancements, testing cycles, and process improvements; develop and maintain test plans, documentation, procedures, user guides, and training materials.
  • Provide consultation and ongoing support to faculty, staff, learners, and program administrators to promote effective platform use, strong customer service, and operational consistency.
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize data to support reporting, dashboard development, program evaluation, continuous improvement, and compliance with University policy, accessibility expectations, information governance practices, and data privacy standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a credentialing, badging, catalog, registration, or learning platform.
  • Knowledge of micro-credentials and digital credentials, including how they differ from certificates, badges, and degree programs, and how they support stackable learning, competency-based education, and modular learning pathways.
  • Familiarity with digital badging and credentialing practices, including credential metadata, verification methods, issuer and earner workflows, credential lifecycle management (issuing, sharing, displaying, and validating), and how credentials align with learning outcomes, competencies, assessments, evidence of achievement, comprehensive learner records, and co-curricular transcripts.
  • Experience with business systems analysis, platform administration, requirements gathering, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, user support, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of enterprise or vendor-supported software applications.
  • Experience with integrations, APIs, single sign-on, data imports/exports, reporting tools, and workflow automation.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Cornerstone, and Canvas Catalog.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and communicate business and functional requirements.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, communication, customer service, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills across functional and technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under general supervision, and independently complete varied and sometimes complex assignments.
