[Hiring] Mechanical Superintendent @Blattner

Role Description

Blattner is expanding our energy construction leadership into gas power generation. This is a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up, backed by a company with decades of proven success in the energy sector. This position will help us shape the processes and standards that carry this business forward to deliver end-to-end hybrid energy solutions.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

• Provides on-site supervision of Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, and all craft personnel (e.g. equipment operators, laborers, electricians, etc.) to ensure a safe, productive, and quality job is attained and costs are controlled.
• Schedules labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors within work discipline to effectively utilize all resources.
• Works with specifications and contract requirements.

STEP INTO THE ROLE:

• Supervises and sets direction for all Assistant Trade Superintendents and Forepersons on-site to ensure use of all company resources and adherence to all company policies and state and federal regulations.
• Provides formal quarterly (at a minimum) coaching feedback to Forepersons and Assistant Trade Superintendents as well as regular informal feedback.
• Ensures development of front line employees through onboarding, training, and mentoring.
• Schedules equipment, materials, tools, and subcontractors to maximize production and minimize costs after becoming familiar with scope of work and site conditions.
• Collaborates with other projects to appropriately utilize and share resources.
• Responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, particularly for specific discipline.
• Understands and enforces company, jobsite specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and discusses concerns with Site Manager.
• Responsible for the utilization of best safety practices, including management of employee orientation, emphasis on special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHA’s, and assisting in meeting CATS observation goals.
• Communicates with Site Manager to update on project problem areas and specific status of the project.
• Collaborates with Site Manager, other Trade Superintendents, General Superintendents, and other supervision to plan and staff trade employees through proper utilization of company resources, processes, and policies.
• Assists Site Manager in communicating and negotiating with owner regarding major project decisions.
• Displays a professional demeanor and acts professionally while interacting with internal and external individuals.
• Creates a collaborative environment with Blattner Energy craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner to continually improve Blattner Energy’s delivery performance.
• Compares actual costs to the job estimate for specific discipline and informs the Site Manager of cost over-runs and the utilization of company resources.
• Accountable for verifying that project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance with the project Quality Plan, Best Practices, and Blattner Energy Quality Systems processes and practices.
• Responsible for establishing, aligning, and communicating project specifications and craftsmanship expectations to Blattner Energy craft, vendors, subcontractors, and other agents.
• Assists in assembling the close-out information needed for Quality, Best Practices, and Estimating meetings.
• Mentors Field Construction Coordinator and Field Engineers on work discipline, production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
• Understands scope of work per the contract and identifies potential change orders to inform the Site Manager.
• Familiarizes themselves with site conditions.
• May act as a project leader in the absence of the Site Manager.
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
• Supports economic conditions by hiring locally, attending job fairs, and attending public information meetings.
• Becomes a project liaison with key community leaders and local landowners.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree; equivalent combination of a 2-year technical college degree with a minimum of 3 years construction supervisory experience; or a minimum of 6 years of additional construction supervisory experience.
• Five years’ experience supervising a construction crew and working in one of the following types of construction: grading, structural, electrical, and/or mechanical.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
• Interpersonal Skills – Ability to supervise and present to a large number of employees.
• Working knowledge of equipment and their appropriate applications.
• Effective Communication Skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with owners, vendors, employees, landowners, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, Visio).
• Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Accounting (math and record-keeping).
• Involved with and understands all disciplines of current project task.
• Must relocate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to.
• May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing.

Benefits

• $138,661.00 - $201,059.00 Individual Compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
