Role Description

The role holder is the UK’s focal point for the EIT opportunities within the EU’s Horizon Europe programme as the Horizon Europe UK National Contact Point (NCP) for European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT).

Context:

• National Contact Points (NCPs) work to increase and promote successful UK engagement and participation in Horizon Europe programme.
• Support partner and funding identification, and assistance throughout the application and assessment process.
• The UK NCP Network sits across UKRI, the Research Councils, and Innovate UK.

Job Purpose:

• Act as the UK’s focal point for EIT opportunities.
• Help ensure future calls for proposals are informed by UK interests and priorities.
• Enable UK entities to navigate and identify suitable opportunities and partners.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Help UK entities understand and navigate the matrix of opportunities within the EIT.
• Act as the nominated UK representative attending meetings online, in Brussels and elsewhere as necessary.
• Influence the development of future Work Programmes through engaging with relevant European Commission officials.
• Develop a strong understanding of UK capabilities and their requirements of international partners.
• Support UK participation in European programmes, being the subject matter expert for the UK on EIT.
• Build strong relationships with relevant bodies and networks.
• Support impact analysis of UK participation and outputs of engagement.

Qualifications

• Degree or post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of European Framework programmes.
• Appreciation of the wider industrial landscape in the UK.
• Familiarity with the wider research environment, both in the UK and globally.
• Stakeholder management experience.
• Knowledge and experience of innovation in a commercial environment.
• Communication and presenting experience.
• Proactive attitude and self-starter mentality.
• Experience in dealing with Pillar 3 activities within Horizon Europe.
