[Hiring] Manufactured Housing Inspector @Arizona Department of Administration

Role Description

This position is responsible for the inspection of all installation activity and enforcement of State and Federal laws and regulations with regard to the installation of manufactured homes, mobile homes, factory-built buildings, and accessory structures. This includes:

• Inspection of structures, soil, foundation, utility connections, proper design and structural plan application, and the issuance of occupancy clearances.
• Supporting the Agency's mission to maintain standards of quality and safety for the occupants of these regulated structures.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, in Arizona, to include in-office hoteling, based on the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. Must have the ability to commute and utilize our Phoenix office hoteling space as required.

Qualifications

• Reliable, high-speed internet access is required for remote positions.
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
• International Code Council (or equivalent) certification in an appropriate category at time of hire or within one year of hire date.
• Experience with general and manufactured housing/factory-built building construction and installation methods.
• Field experience as a construction superintendent/foreman or journeyman.

Requirements

• Train and mentor licensees who perform the installation work in the field and other entities involved in the industry.
• Frequent interaction with licensees, public, and local jurisdictions.
• Inspect and audit manufactured home installations for compliance with HUD Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards.
• Inspect the installation of mobile homes and factory-built buildings for compliance with structural plans and regulations.
• Schedule daily inspections and author reports to reflect the results of inspections.
• Conduct habitability inspections of mobile homes required to comply with Rehabilitation requirements.
• Identify and investigate unlicensed activities which requires the interpretation and application of building codes, Federal regulations, State rules, and statutes.
• Other duties as assigned.
