Role Description

This is in INTERNAL recruitment, open to current, permanent WA State Department of Corrections employees only. DOC's mission is to improve public safety by positively changing lives. Our agency is INTERNALLY seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Legal Financial Obligation (LFO) and Cost of Supervision (COS) Programs and Community Corrections Division (CCD) Critical Incident Review (CIR) Oversight Administrator. This WMS02 position reports to DOC's Headquarters located at 7345 Linderson Way SW, Tumwater WA 98504, and is expected to eventually telework up to four days each week.

This position is an integral part of the CCD management team and is currently responsible for the development, maintenance, and ongoing operation of two statewide programs involving both individuals under agency jurisdiction and individuals in the community having to do with the enforcement of both Court and DOC imposed financial obligations, LFO and COS. This responsibility also includes Department implementation of the portions of 2SHB 1818 (2022) relevant to the elimination of the COS fund, as well as HB 1412 (2022) relating to LFOs. In addition, the position contributes to staff and community safety by being the CCD Assistant Secretaryโ€™s designee for the oversight of all Field Operations fact-finding reviews and CIRs completed within the Division.

Qualifications

  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in conducting investigations and investigative report writing.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience as a supervisor in the effective application of Human Resources practices to maintain a trained and diverse workforce.
  • Must possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the state of WA.
  • A combination of education and/or qualifying experience equaling nine years, which must include at least five years of case management experience in Community Corrections.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent AND a minimum of nine years of case management experience in Community Corrections.
  • An associate degree from a recognized college or educational institution AND a minimum of seven years of case management experience in Community Corrections.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution AND a minimum of five years of case management experience in Community Corrections.
  • Note: Higher education degrees must be from a college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent.
