Role Description

As part of Intersect’s Development team, you will lead the strategy and execution of complex land acquisition efforts that enable large-scale energy projects to move forward. This role combines deal-making, team leadership, and project governance, ensuring land campaigns are executed efficiently, aligned with development timelines, and positioned for long-term success.

You will take ownership of high-impact land initiatives from early-stage engagement through deal execution, while guiding internal teams and external partners toward shared outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Land Deal Execution
    • Bring 10+ years of land experience, including 5+ years leading land teams on energy infrastructure projects, with demonstrated success managing internal and external land resources.
    • Lead and close complex land agreements across wind, solar, transmission, battery storage, mineral waivers, and purchase options from initial engagement through execution.
    • Structure creative deal terms that balance project needs, landowner interests, and long-term value.
    • Manage risk and ensure all agreements align with legal, title, and development requirements.
    • Coordinate closely with internal and external legal and due diligence teams to support agreement structuring, review, and execution.
  • Lead Land Campaigns and Teams
    • Oversee land campaigns across multiple active projects, ensuring alignment with development trajectory and milestones.
    • Manage and mentor direct reports and third-party land agents, driving accountability and performance.
    • Coordinate cross-functionally with Development, Engineering, Community Engagement, and Legal teams to advance projects.
  • Own Strategy and Governance
    • Set and execute land acquisition strategies aligned with broader project and portfolio goals.
    • Oversee budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking for land acquisition activities.
    • Maintain clear reporting and governance across projects, identifying risks and driving mitigation plans.
  • Enable Cross-Functional Alignment
    • Partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure land efforts support permitting, engineering, and community engagement timelines.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for land-related decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven track record of structuring and closing complex land agreements within the energy industry.
  • Experience leading teams, including direct reports and third-party agents, while driving accountability across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong ability to manage cross-functional coordination across development, engineering, legal, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership of strategy, including budget management, forecasting, and governance across multiple projects.
  • Experience working with real estate legal frameworks, title, and land-related risk management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, or a related field, or professional designations such as AAPL, CALEP, IRWA (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with land acquisition practices across energy infrastructure projects and key industry players.
  • Established professional network within land, real estate, or energy development ecosystems.
  • Clear, structured communicator with a disciplined approach to reporting and decision-making.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a proactive, thoughtful, and solutions-oriented mindset, thriving in complex, fast-moving environments.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $215,000 to $240,000 (total compensation includes base salary + bonus in USD).
