[Hiring] Intern - Museum Experience and Digital Media @United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Role Description

The internship position within the Museum Experience and Digital Media office offers the opportunity to use your research, analytics, and organizational skills to improve the Museum’s digital products, including the Holocaust Encyclopedia.

• Monitor AI tools and track USHMM citations to understand how popular LLMs are surfacing USHMM content in generated outputs.
• Participate in on-page optimization efforts to improve the visibility of Holocaust Encyclopedia pages in search results.
• Track Google keywords to identify search trends.
• Review and organize ID cards of Holocaust victims and survivors to help make their stories more discoverable.
• Write alt text for Holocaust Encyclopedia images to facilitate accessibility.

Training will be provided to allow you to complete these tasks successfully. This role will allow you to gain experience with tracking analytics and optimizing online content for visibility and discoverability, while contributing to the Museum’s mission of inspiring citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.

This position resides within the office of Museum Experience and Digital Media (MEDM), which creates and maintains experiences in physical and digital spaces that encourage people to think about how and why the Holocaust happened and the lessons it holds for us today.

By joining our team as an intern, you will contribute to this vital mission by participating in the production of our digital products.

Qualifications

• Enrollment as a Junior or higher in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, with a major in Museum Studies, Holocaust Studies, History, Marketing, Communications, Publishing, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of productivity software such as Google Suite (e.g., Google Sheets, Docs, Slides) for communications and report creation.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience with Google Search Console and SEO principles, whether through coursework, previous internships, or related projects.
• Demonstrated interest in AI tools and their impacts on the current online information landscape.
• Demonstrated interest in working with content related to Holocaust history and memorialization.
• Interest in learning about the editorial and production processes of web publishing in a museum setting.
• Organized and able to work independently with supervision from virtual staff.

To be eligible to participate in the Internship Program, students must meet the following enrollment criteria:

• The student must be 18 years or older currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
• The student must have completed at least the first semester of their freshman year (At least at the time of application).
• Provide proof of legal right to work in the United States.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must reside in the United States for the full duration of the internship program.
• Must complete their background check while physically present in the United States.

Interviews for the Fall 2026 internship program will begin in August 2026 for advanced applicants. Final selection decisions will be made in September 2026, and all candidates will be notified of their status via email by Human Resources.
