[Hiring] Insurance Specialist @Nirvana

Role Description

This is a backfill hire on our billing team, joining an existing team of 6 and reporting directly to the hiring manager. You will focus on healthcare eligibility verification and claims denial resolution, working across payer portals such as Availity, OneHealthport, and Evernorth to keep coverage information accurate and claims moving.

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits accurately across payer portals, including Availity, OneHealthport, and Evernorth
• Process and resolve claims denials, working directly with payers to identify root cause and next steps
• Communicate with internal teams and payer representatives to gather the information needed to resolve coverage and claims issues
• Maintain accurate, organized records of all eligibility and billing related activity
• Follow up on outstanding claims and denials within deadlines, with high accuracy
• Stay current on payer policies, billing regulations, and best practices related to eligibility and claims

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in healthcare billing, eligibility verification, or claims and denials management
• Hands on experience with payer portals such as Availity, OneHealthport, or Evernorth
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy under deadline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team, available during Eastern Time working hours
• Experience working with payers across all 50 states

Preferred Qualifications

• Background specifically in healthcare eligibility verification, rather than broader AR or finance billing
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding
• In-house startup experience strongly preferred
• Experience working across multiple specialties
• CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist) is a nice to have, not required

Compensation

$20 to $25 per hour, based on experience.
