Role Description

The Insurance Advisor I is responsible for providing exceptional service to clients and members, addressing their insurance needs and inquiries. Key responsibilities include:

• Responding to telephone calls and written requests regarding coverage questions, premiums, eligibility, rates, account status, claims, billing, policy changes, and benefits.
• Maintaining detailed records of insurance transactions with the appropriate company database.
• Selling all product lines and serving as a product expert for all coverage lines for Property & Casualty and Life & Health.
• Educating, planning, and supporting members to help them cover all practice-related insurance risks.
• Consulting with members to identify risk and exposure, advising on proper values for the member’s assets, and recommending solutions to manage risk and exposure.
• Acting as a liaison between the member and other departments by gathering and passing underwriting information.
• Working effectively with interdependent departments and outside carriers to process application submissions efficiently.
• Investigating and resolving customer problems and disputes in a timely manner.
• Providing a high level of service to CDA members and insurance clients.
• Conducting outbound calls as necessary to service members.
• Responding to and handling escalated/complex service issues for all lines of business.
• Cross-selling all appropriate product lines, including referrals to the Health Care Team.
• Supporting ongoing benchmarks for retention, controllable pend ratio, revenue goals, sales pipeline development, and new business submission goals.
• Accurately tracking all prospect management through the appropriate company database.
• Creating and sustaining long-term working relationships with valued CDA members and insurance clients.
• Conducting consistent follow-up with prospective clients via phone and email.
• Interacting with members, clients, and prospective clients at industry tradeshows and occasional networking events.
• Participating in pre-arranged marketing campaigns and tracking activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Active Property & Casualty and Life & Health agent licenses.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Two years of experience in insurance sales and/or insurance account management.
• Demonstrated sales experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills in response to escalated/complex service issues.
• Ability to assess needs, present recommendations for coverages and products, and effectively close sales.
• Ability to manage a large volume of inbound and outbound calls, track and document follow-up communication, and deliver premier customer service.
• Demonstrated knowledge of P&C and L&H insurance policies and coverages.
• Ability to operate independently, exercising good judgment and professionalism.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
