Role Description

The Environmental Business Line of Arcadis is seeking an ambitious, hardworking, dependable scientist to support human health risk assessment, ecological risk assessment, and/or toxicology focused projects. The preferred location for this position is Portland, OR but Arcadis has offices throughout the US and the specific location for this position is flexible. This full-time position within our Risk Assessment and Toxicology group will support our diverse environmental assessment and restoration projects. The ideal candidate will possess great attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and will be capable of working as a productive member of a high-performance team.

Role accountabilities:

• Supporting human health and/or ecological risk assessments and site investigations.
• Working effectively with local and national project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders.
• Analyzing and interpreting field data.
• Preparing visual, graphical, and tabular summaries of environmental data and trends.
• Technical report writing.
• Supporting proposal efforts.
• Conducting project related research (historical data, regulations, etc.).
• Interpreting state and federal regulations.
• Fieldwork (e.g., habitat assessment, environmental sample collection, emergency response).

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, or closely related field.
• 0-2 years of experience.

Requirements

• Strong academic foundation in the life sciences, demonstrated by relevant coursework in biology, zoology, toxicology, and chemistry.
• Ability to apply knowledge to real-world environmental and technical challenges.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
• Specialized academic experience in risk assessment and chemical fate and transport is strongly preferred.
• Completed advanced coursework in statistics.
• Expertise in data visualization, enabling interpretation of complex datasets and effective communication of insights.
• Proficiency with R coding for statistical analysis and modeling.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot is a plus.

• Salary range for this position is $55,200 - $82,800.
