[Hiring] Head of Cloud Infrastructure @YipitData

Role Description

We are hiring a Head of Cloud Infrastructure (Director Level) to lead the modernization and scaling of the shared infrastructure that powers YipitData’s data-intensive products and engineering organization. Reporting to the Chief Architect, you will own cloud platform, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and developer experience across an AWS environment built with Kubernetes and Terraform.

This is a player-coach leadership role for someone who can set strategy, make sound architectural decisions, remain technically credible, and lead a high-leverage global team. You will:

• Unify existing modernization initiatives into a coherent roadmap.
• Establish formal reliability and disaster-recovery practices.
• Make it faster and easier for engineers to build, deploy, and operate dependable software.
• Improve cloud efficiency and deliver measurable savings without compromising reliability or developer velocity.

You will own shared infrastructure, while our Data Platform, Data Engineering, and application teams will continue to own their applications and data products. Security and Enterprise IT are outside this role’s ownership, and you will partner closely with those functions as well as the Chief Architect and engineering leaders.

This is a remote-friendly opportunity that can sit in NYC, one of our office hubs, or anywhere else in the US. However, depending upon where the remote work is performed, income could be subject to New York State tax withholding. We expect US working hours with sufficient overlap to lead and collaborate with a globally distributed team. This role does not require travel.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant infrastructure, SRE, platform engineering, or developer productivity experience.
• Hands-on expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Experience leading approximately 3–10 infrastructure, platform, SRE, or DevOps engineers.
• Experience building or materially transforming a platform function and operating mature, business-critical production infrastructure.
• Experience helping a data-intensive SaaS, analytics, or similarly complex technology organization scale through rapid growth.
• Experience owning formal reliability practices, including SLOs, incident management, production operations, and disaster recovery.
• Experience improving developer velocity or platform experience through self-service capabilities, standardized workflows, internal platform adoption, or measurable reductions in engineering friction.
• Ability to translate technical strategy into an actionable roadmap and influence stakeholders through clear communication and credible technical judgment.
• Experience delivering measurable cloud-cost or infrastructure-efficiency improvements.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
