[Hiring] Global Head of Security / CISO @Base.com

Role Description

At Base, our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to succeed in the global e-commerce landscape. We provide a technology platform that revolutionizes their online sales operations. As Base continues to scale globally and handle millions of e-commerce transactions across international markets, security is a core pillar of our platform’s trust and resilience. We are looking for an energetic, threat-informed Global Head of Security / CISO to take ownership of our established security program and lead it through our next phase of hyper-growth.

This is not a greenfield role. We already operate a solid security foundation with an active ISO/IEC 27001 certification and an established SOC. Your mission will be to act as a practical business enabler—strengthening our cyber-resilience, preparing us for SOC 2 readiness, and partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and Executive teams to ensure our platform remains secure, compliant, and ready for responsible AI integration.

• Own and evolve Base’s security strategy, roadmap, governance and operating model.
• Lead, mentor and develop the security team, ensuring clear priorities, accountability and professional growth.
• Preserve effective existing capabilities while closing material security and compliance gaps.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to strengthen product, API, cloud, identity, software supply-chain and AI security.
• Provide strategic oversight of the established SOC, major incidents and cyber-resilience capabilities.
• Maintain and continually improve Base’s ISO/IEC 27001-certified ISMS, lead the phased journey toward SOC 2 readiness and attestation, and ensure security controls evolve with regulatory, contractual and customer requirements.
• Enable secure use of AI in products, software development, code review, internal automation and security operations.
• Translate security risks into clear business decisions, priorities and investment needs.
• Represent Base in executive discussions, strategic customer reviews, audits and due-diligence processes.

Qualifications

• Senior security leadership experience in a SaaS, e-commerce, marketplace or cloud-native technology company.
• Proven experience taking ownership of and maturing an established security programme.
• Experience leading and mentoring security professionals.
• Broad understanding of product security, cloud, IAM, secure software development, security operations and incident response.
• Broad, vendor-agnostic experience across modern security technologies, with the ability to assess, integrate, simplify and evolve the security stack as the organisation scales.
• Practical experience with ISO/IEC 27001, risk management, customer assurance and SOC 2 readiness.
• Understanding of AI security, AI-assisted development and security automation.
• Strong business judgement and the ability to work effectively with executives, engineers, customers and auditors.
• Fluent Polish and English.
