[Hiring] Global Director of Impact & Knowledge Management @New Energy Nexus

Role Description

The Global Impact Director & Knowledge Management is the champion of New Energy Nexus’ ambition to be a true learning organization. They will lead the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning function at New Energy Nexus (NEX) that tracks, highlights, and strengthens the impact of the NEX network. The role owns NEX Global Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework, collaborates with the leadership to refine and maintain global Theory of Change (TOC), is the organization’s leading subject matter expert on disciplined TOC development and evaluations and supports country offices, programs, and initiatives to align their work with the overarching NEX global MEL framework.

The Director will be responsible for:

• Overseeing the implementation of the global framework across the network, providing strategic guidance and hands-on support to chapter and program.
• Continuously strengthening, refining and adapting the framework as NEX’s programs, geographies, partnerships and strategic priorities evolve.
• Supporting country teams and global programs by making impact work practical and useful with clear definitions, light-touch templates, and practical coaching.
• Working in close partnership with the Strategy, Development and Communications teams.

Qualifications

• A minimum of eight plus years of experience in impact measurement and management, or monitoring evaluation and learning.
• At least 3 years experience in working in organizations focused on climate change, clean energy and/or entrepreneurship.
• Demonstrated experience developing and applying a theory of change, log frames, MEL plans, and outcome indicators.
• Experience managing impact databases and data quality processes (Airtable or a comparable platform).
• Demonstrated experience applying equity-focused MEL approaches.
• Proven ability to influence culture and collective behavior of a mission driven team.
• Foundational knowledge of the climate, clean energy, and entrepreneurship support landscape.
• Demonstrated ability to stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in MEL and knowledge management.
• Experience supporting fundraising with impact evidence.
• Experience training and coaching non-specialists in MEL topics.
• Proven track record of effective internal and external relationship management.
• Demonstrated ability to design and maintain data systems, repositories, or dashboards.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Experience supervising consultants.
• Ability to travel a few times in a year.
• Experience working in a global environment.
• Flexibility to accommodate meetings across different time zones.

Requirements

• Leads the development and implementation of NEX's global monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework.
• Refines and updates the standardized global impact indicators and data standards.
• Leads design and implementation of MEL related policies, processes and practices.
• Actively contributes to the design of multi-country proposals and programs.
• Manages global impact databases and produces regular reports.
• Co-leads the annual Global Impact Report project with communications team.
• Gives chapters, program partners, and the fundraising team technical guidance.
• Strengthens staff capacity to understand and perform MEL related activities.
• Leads and facilitates monthly Impact Guild meetings and an annual in-person convening.
• Provides 1:1 advisory support to chapter impact leads on MEL related topics.
• Leads the organization-wide knowledge management structure, data systems, and AI strategy.
• Collaborates with teams to integrate knowledge management systems.
• Oversees the governance, security, and responsible use of organizational data.
• Owns and manages the global impact database.
• Leverages AI and integrates it into NEX's MEL systems.
• Works with Communications Team to collect stories and case studies.
• Maintains one approved set of impact figures and reviews external materials for accuracy.
